About Safe Space One

How it all started

From struggling to get appropriate safe and confidential online care for my mother, to winning a UK Government innovation award for online healthcare delivery.

We are a group of patients, backed by clinical experts, with strong digital privacy, security personal data rights backgrounds, who have extensively studied the clinical consultation process for long term care, and we see a better, safer and truly confidential online future for patients, clinicians and care service providers.

Clinical consultation time is precious, digitisation should amplify the value of that consultation. Digitally empowered patient consultations make that precious consultation time more efficient and drives improved outcomes.

In the move to digitise health services online, clinicians and service providers, while patient centred in care delivery, are morbidity centric by expertise. Hence we see a thousand digital islands being built and a thousand more digital experiences patients will have to go through, and as research has shown, none are even close to being confidential.

The much sought-after continuity of care goal is pushed further and further away with each transformational step of digitisation.

My health pathway as a patient is much longer and complex than one morbidity care pathway. Continuity of care through digital transformation can only come about when that process recognises my needs as a patient and supports my health pathway through multiple morbidities across your service provision.

Our focus is the consultation and long term treatment process – and we see the opportunity of inserting digital into the communication pathway as one where digital adds value to the consultation without undermining patient confidentiality. It’s about how the consultation can leave me as a patient more information-empowered in managing my own care, not just for current treatment, but across my lifetime of care needs.
